When it comes to packing and securing large and heavy goods, you have several materials to choose between so that you buy the appropriate one for your needs. Straps are divided into metallic and non-metallic. Though their characteristics look alike, the different materials have their advantages and disadvantages. To find the most adequate strap, we recommend you to take the following in mind.
Low carbon steel strap
Steel is the preferred choice, referring to the production of strap and other materials for sealing and packaging. Low carbon steel strap is an ideal choice for packing very heavy goods, where your expectations for strap are significant. This type of low carbon steel strap is much stronger than others, but it is not advisable to expose it to extreme weather conditions for a long time.
Steel strap
This strap is a typical choice that differs from standard carbon steel strap due to the added extra chrome coating. This makes the strapping more durable to various loads, temperatures, and weather conditions. Plastic strap
There is a wide range of plastic strap that come into use in various projects. It is important to know that this type of plastic strap is relatively new product, but it gives very good results, close to their metal alternatives. The main advantages that make clients choose non-metallic straps are that they are very flexible, and also very often – cheaper than the metal ones. This is because plastic (polyester or polypropylene), in general, is a cheaper material than steel and metal. In addition, plastic straps are much more flexible and easy to operate, which might be useful to you to protect operators from injury, and also to avoid any potential damage to the goods, you are strengthening.
However, one of the main disadvantages plastic strap is its strength and endurance. In this aspect, plastic straps would not be able to represent as well as metal ones. All these facts make the plastic straps very suitable for packing small and relatively light goods. So, using the plastic strap, you can obtain flexibility of the material and save money.
